They are many types of headache caused by different pathologies which are divided into primary headaches, secondary headaches, cranial neuralgias, primary facial pain and other headaches.
Primary Headaches
Primary headaches are those not caused by underlying health problems and form the most common types of headaches experienced include tension, migraine and cluster headaches
Tension Headaches :
The most common type of primary headache usually associated with a dull pain, tightness or pressure in the forehead and scalp. Tension headaches occur more commonly among women than men.
Migraine Headaches :
Migraine headaches are the second most common type of primary headache. It will affect children as well as adult. About 60% people migraine experience pain on one side of the head, while the rest, both sides. During a migraine, other symptoms like nausea and sensitivity to light may occur.
Cluster Headaches :
Cluster headaches are a rare type of primary headache. It more commonly affected men in their late 20s although women and children can also suffer this type of headache. Cluster headaches can penetrate pain in and around one eye or one side of the head.
Secondary Headaches
Secondary headaches are those that are due to an underlying structural problem in the head or neck. There are numerous causes and conditions of this type of headache ranging from bleeding in the head, tumor or meningitis. The others symptoms of another disease are :
- Headache attributed to infection
- Headache attributed to cranial or cervical vascular disorder
- Headache attributed to head and neck trauma
- Headache attributed to psychiatric disorder

Neuralgia is severe pain caused by damaged nerves.
