Rectal cancer is a disease when normal cells in the rectum stop functioning properly and begin to grow up abnormally. The tumors begin when normal tissues in the rectum wall forms an adenomatous polyp extending from the rectal wall lining. Since polyps may turn cancerous, one way to prevent rectal cancer is to detect and remove it before they become seriously.

The rectum is located at the end of colon. Rectum is a part of digestive system. The digestive system removes and processes nutrients from food and helps pass waste material out of the body.

The possible risk factors for rectal cancer include the following :

• Having a personal history of cancer ovary
• Family history of cancer colon or rectum
• Polyps (small pieces of bulging tissues) in the rectum or colon
• A history of ulcerative colitis

There are a number of possible symptoms of rectal cancer. The following are symptoms of rectal cancer :

• Feeling that the bowel does not empty completely
• Feeling very tired
• Bleeding from the anus
• Abdominal pain
• Weight loss for no reason
• Change in appetite
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Either bright red or very dark blood in the stool
