Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian Cancer is a type of cancer which attacks women that begin in the ovaries. Ovarian cancer happened when there are abnormal tissue grows in the ovaries. Abnormal tissue may grow in different parts of the ovary. Majority of ovarian cancer formed at the outer lining (epithelium) of the ovary.

Ovarian Cancer /Carcinoma Causes

Actually, the real causes of ovarian cancer are still not clear yet. This is because cancer happened when healthy cells get a genetic mutation and turn them into abnormal cells. However, there are some risk factors of ovarian cancer which women need to concern about:

Family History: If you have family member that suffer from ovarian cancer, then you are also in the high risk of getting ovarian cancer.

Have previous cancer history: If you had been diagnosed having other cancer such as colon cancer, breast cancer, rectum cancer and etc before, your risk to get ovarian cancer also increase.

Age: If you are 50 years old and above or already menopause, then you have higher risk in getting ovarian cancer.

Never get pregnant: Women who have had children have lower risk in getting ovarian cancer than women who never get pregnant. This is because breast feeding may lower the risk.

Obesity or very overweight: Obese women have higher risk of getting ovarian cancer. This is because many cases being reported are from women who were overweight.

Using Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT): Studies show that HRT can slightly increases the risk factor of ovarian cancer among women. The longer the HRT been taken, the higher the risks.

Ovarian Cancer /Carcinoma Symptoms

Ovarian cancer usually does not show any symptoms at early stage. It often being diagnosed when it comes to advanced stage. The following are some possible ovarian cancer symptoms:

Feels pain in the pelvis.
Vaginal bleeding abnormally.
Back pain.
Pain during having sex.
Stomach become swell.
Quick full when eating.
Frequent urination.
Lost of appetite.
Lower side of body always feeling pain.
Indigestion.
Nausea.
Tiredness or fatigue.
Gaining weight or loss weight.
Constipation.
