Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) is a common cause of old age reduced vision. It always relates to the name of aged patients who has these problem.

Retina which is situated at the back of the eye, sends the images that we see to the brain. Retina has two main parts which is called the macula and the peripheral retina. The macula is responsible for seeing fine detail, such as reading, seeing facial features and differentiate colour. This part of the retina that is affected by these Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) problem.
Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) Development
Ageing wear and tear changes in the Yin and the Qi system of your eyes and muscles. All these damages the cells over a period of time and may cause this ARMD.

People who are over 60 years of age has higher change of getting AEMD. Some younger people may be also in a higher risk if you are very short-sighted.

Dry and Wer Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) are the two most common type of Age-related macular degeneration.

Wet Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD)
Wet ARMD is less common but more serious and faster in effecting on the central area of vision. Blood vessels from outer layer at the back of the eye grow in an abnormal condition into the macular area. Then the blood vessels may bleed and cause a rapid and blurr vision in central retina eyes. This usually affects one eyes and then slowly affects the second one.
Dry Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD)
Vision tends to get worst slowly and may lose vision.
ARMD may well be regard as old age problem and these may be relates to the weekness of Qi system of the 5 organs of Yin and Yang.
