What is Vertigo? |
Vertigo is a type of dizziness that involve the ear or brain and cause a feeling of spinning, shaking or body is not balanced. You may feel that you are moving or spinning or moving rooms feel also rotates around you. Some of these problems are not serious, while others can be life threatening if not prevented.
Other than that, vertigo is often caused by inner ear problem. Some inner problem such as:
- BPPV
BPPV occurs when the veins in the ear canal is blocked by small particles of calcium. Then the inner ear sends signal to the brain (on the head and body movement relative to gravity). - Meniere’s disease

What are the Vertigo Causes? |
Usually vertigo attacks only a few second and then come back. For severe cases the symptoms will disappear after a few days. Vertigo can develop suddenly. There are several causes of vertigo:
- Ear Problem
Deposition or formation of calcium in the semicircular canal, inflammation and certain infections can cause problems in the vestibular system. Including the inner ear vestibular system and the nervous system (which controls balance). - Head Injury
Accidental head injury, trauma or after surgery the head can affect the vestibular system in various ways, and lead to vertigo. - Medications
Can occur but rarely medications that affect the ear or brain function and lead to vertigo. - Migraine
In a condition called vestibular migraine, vertigo can be caused by migraine. Vertigo usually occurs with headaches, although sometimes symptoms do not berlakuy simultaneously.
Symptoms of Vertigo |
There are several symptom that may cause Vertigo :
- Feeling like spinning or swaying.
- Feeling lost balance – these feelings can arise and vanish and may occur several seconds, hours or days. You may feel worse when moving the head. Changes in body position (standing, lying down) and when coughing or sneezing.
- Vomiting or nausea.
- Have a headache or being sensitive to light and sound.
- Visually overlap (double vision).
- Having trouble to speak or feel weak / swelling.
- Difficulty in breathing, sweating and rapid heart movement.
